NEW MEMBERS
ARE WELCOME
The foundation and intent of our work
is
- To protect and
restore the natural environment of our local area,
understanding that this directly impacts the survival
and evolution of life on Earth.
- To operate under
the premise that
-
- stabilizing
climate change,
- retaining
carbon sinks,
- protecting
wildlife (including endangered flora and
fauna),
- preserving
water quality and
availability,
- preventing
soil erosion,
- care-taking
healthy ecosystems, and
- maintaining
biodiversity
are our fundamental
responsibility to future generations. We encourage and
support creative, ethical and economically viable
solutions to these inter-related
issues.
- To bring an end to
all native forest logging in the
Central Highlands of Victoria. To participate in
ongoing dialogue and research, and to involve and
inform the community to accelerate this
transition.
- To support a new vision and role for
the local forest industries, grounded in
environmentally ethical practices and resourced from
sustainable plantation timber and non-timber
alternatives. To build understanding and seek common
ground among all members of the community effected by
changes in forestry management and practices, and to
seek sound economic outcomes.
